Botox®
How is Botox® Different From Dermal Fillers?
BOTOX®: Does not fill in space or add volume. It is used to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face. Some of the most commonly targeted areas of concerns include frown lines, corners of the mouth, brow, forehead, and crow’s feet.
Areas That Can Be Treated:
- Forehead
- Area between the brow (glabella or “11 lines”)
- Crow’s feet
- Bunny lines
- Brows (for a brow lift)
- Smoker’s lines
What To Expect:
- Administered right here in the comfort and convenience of our spa, Botox injections can generally be performed in half an hour or less, depending on the number of targeted areas being addressed. In fact, we’ve had several guests receive treatment over their lunch break.
- Results are typically seen within 3-7 days and generally last up to 12 weeks.
- Lines that are deep may only be softened whereas lines that are mild to moderate in depth may be erased after several treatments.
- Dr. Deb takes great care in minimizing any potential pain or discomfort with patients. When asked, the majority of individuals say they experienced little to no discomfort at all.
- Recovery or downtime following treatment is rare, though some degree of bruising and/or swelling in the targeted areas is common. That said, these side effects should fade relatively quick and most patients are able to return to work and/or normal daily routines as soon as they leave the spa. Botox patients should wait at least 7 days before a facial.
Contraindications
- Pregnancy or attempting to become pregnant
- Nursing
- Infection at the injection site
- Those with known neurological disease such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, neuromuscular junction disease such as myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, active infection, or uncontrolled diabetes or significant cardiovascular disease.
- Allergy to eggs, albumin, or any component of Botox® Cosmetic
Side Effects
- Headache
- Flu-like symptoms
- Bruising
- Nausea
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Approximately 5% of patients will report transient eyelid or brow dropping or eyelid swelling. This may last 2-4 weeks and in rare instances may last 3 months or greater.
- More rare complications include shortness of breath and anaphylaxis.
- Other more remote side effects have been reported and are listed at www.botoxcosmetic.com.

Dermal Filler
Why Should I Consider A Dermal Filler:
Most people want to look like themselves, just a little refreshed. The best way to explain how fillers will enhance one’s appearance is to look at a picture of yourself from ten years ago and look at the area that bothers you the most. See how the area has changed with time. Dr. Deb’s goal is to restore the volume of the face to where it was 5-15 years ago while maintaining your natural features.
Areas That Can Be Treated?
- Cheeks
- Nasolabial folds (the lines alongside the nose down to the sides of the mouth)
- Lips
- Smoker’s lines
- Marionette lines (lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin)
- Scars
- Fine lines that are not fully relaxed with Botox®
What To Expect
